There have been many a long discussion here at Pro Photo Rental about the incredible image quality, yet relative unpopularity of the 135mm focal length. (We're camera nerds, okay?) For some reason, lenses in the medium telephoto length seem to get overlooked by many. It seems that interest jumps from the 85mm directly to the 70-200mm lenses. But make that jump at your peril, we say. If you are shooting portraits or need to isolate your subject from the background, we humbly submit that there is no better option than a well-made 135mm fast prime.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, it's hard to find a better lens in this focal length than what the engineers magicians at Sony have created with this lens. It is absolutely spectacular, and has all of the latest features to take your artistry to the next level. One of the things we really like is the XD linear focus system, which has snappy autofocus while maintaining a nice manual focus control feel. But our favorite feature has to be the 11-blade diaphragm, which we predict will make Instagram explode with #bokeh hashtags. It is truly a sight to behold.

For you video shooters, Sony included a manual aperture ring that can be "de-clicked" for smooth transitions between iris settings. Naturally, it also has an Auto setting when you want the camera to retain aperture control.
