The Nikon 14-24mm lens in F mount has been one of the most popular rentals over the course of our history. It is an excellent wide-angle zoom option, and now Nikon has updated it for their mirrorless system. Not only do you get a native Z mount, but they've made some impressive upgrades as well.

The first thing you'll notice is the new removable lens hoods. Hoods? Plural? Yep. You can use the smaller HB-96 for a streamlined size, or switch to the HB-97 for use with threaded filters. Normally we're not fans of having a removable lens hood on a wide-angle lens like this (due to the lack of protection on that big, beautiful front element), but threaded filters is definitely a nice addition, and not so easily done on the original version. That being said, it's an uncommon filter size (112mm), so be sure to take that into account if you want to use threaded filters. There is also a slot at the rear for gel filters.

The optical wizards at Nikon have applied all of the latest lens improvements and coatings, such as ARNEO, Nano Crystal Coat, and Super Integrated Coating. The upshot for you is reduced flare and ghosting for improved color and contrast.

Further enhancing the performance of this lens is the stepping-motor style autofocus system, which gives you fast, accurate, and (most importantly) nearly silent operation. It is great for both photo and video use. Naturally, there is also full-time manual focus override for when you want to call the shots.

Speaking of adjusting focus, the physical ring you use for that is programmable, and can also be used for other settings such as aperture or exposure compensation.

We think this lens was absolutely necessary in Nikon's mirrorless lineup, and we're excited to make it available to you for rent.
