When we started this business back in 2007, the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II lens was Canon's latest iteration of its famed wide-angle zoom lens. Over the years, it has proven to be one of our most popular items, fitting well within the Top 10 most rented gear in our history. This focal length is a photojournalist's dream, and is also used quite frequently for architecture and landscapes.

There are compromises that have to be made for ultra-wide zoom lenses, and to be perfectly honest, the II version of this lens definitely had some challenges, especially with corner sharpness on a full-frame body. However, technology marches on, and Canon has done an amazing job updating this lens. The EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III is much sharper at the far reaches of the frame, no matter which body you're using. They've also improved the vignetting and distortion (other relative weak spots of the previous model).

We could geek out on all of the technical innovations of this lens, but the bottom line is this: If you need an ultra-wide angle, fast zoom lens, we highly recommend this model. It is better in practically every measurable way compared to its predecessors. Buy it today and see for yourself!
