Continuing the tradition of spectacular lenses in the G Master lineup, Sony took the 35mm prime and knocked it out of the park with this design.

This lens replaces the Zeiss version, and is a nice improvement over that lens. The optical improvements are many, including the addition of 2 XA (which confusingly stands for eXtreme Aspherical) elements and a new Nano AR II coating. All of that combines to help combat color fringing, flare, and ghosting.

On the autofocus side of things, this lense uses Sony's XD dual linear motor system for fast and precise autofocus. This system is in most of their GM lenses, and we can confirm it works incredibly well. It's also virtually silent, which is especially good if you're a ninja (or trying to photograph a ninja).

Finally, we can't say enough about how compact and light this lens is. It is so great to have these smaller, lighter prime lenses to go with the mirrorless bodies. It's great if you're shooting video on a gimbal, or if you actually want functional arms at the end of a long wedding day. Super small, super light, super sharp.
