It's curious that Sony took so long to make this lens, as the wide angle prime area was a big gap in their E-mount lineup. But holy smokes, what a lens we got in exchange for the wait! Surprisingly small for a full-frame wide lens, this lens is very light and excellent for using on a gimbal. The image quality is phenomenal, even out to the very edge of the frame. It's sharp and keeps color fringing well under control. For video shooters, Sony included a manual aperture control ring that can be switched between stepped "clicks" and completely smooth operation. Finally, we have to mention the 11 circular aperture blades which makes the bokeh especially nice on this lens. Rent this for landscape, wedding, astronomy, or any other wide angle shooting that requires super high quality. You won't be disappointed!
