For starters, the 24.2 full frame sensor is both backside illuminated and stacked in design with internal memory, meaning readout times are blisteringly quick. For all of its incredible features, the speed of the a9 is what really sets it apart thanks to the internal memory in its stacked sensor and Sony’s 4D autofocus system. By the way, the Sony a9 has 693 AF points that cover 93% of the full frame 35mm sensor. 693. That’s almost, like, too many… Those 693 autofocus points allow the a9 to track moving subjects with extreme speed while also capturing images using the silent electronic shutter without any blackout due to a mirror or shutter. This allows you to follow your moving subject more easily while also improving movement prediction. Speaking of movement, the a9 boasts 5-axis internal image stabilization so you can shoot handheld without having to worry about motion blur. As far as image quality- stellar stuff. 4k video down rezd from 6k worth of data and 14 bit RAW capture for still photos make for gorgeous imagery. You can really use the a9 for almost any situation, but it really shines when speed is crucial. Lookin’ at you, wildlife and sports photographers.
