The long wait is over! The successor to the famous alpha 7 "s" series is finally here. Was it worth it? We think so. The spec sheet is pretty impressive. Click on the "Specifications" tab above to get all of the techy geeky goodness. Read on for a translation of what it all means for you.

Continuing the tradition of this lineup, this body has mind-blowing low light performance for both photo and video use. This model even allows going down to ISO 40 for those bright days or times when you want to use slower shutter speeds without an ND filter.

As a camera oriented primarily toward video shooting, the specifications list doesn't disappoint. The first improvement is a faster sensor readout, resulting in far less rolling shutter. In addition to the sensor improvements, Sony made processing improvements via the new BIONZ XR Image processor that give you 16-bit Raw output via the full-size HDMI port, higher bit rate internal recording modes, 4K at 120fps and NO RECORD TIME LIMITS. Awesome stuff. Add on 15-stop dynamic range via S-Log2 and S-Log3, and you can see that this camera is destined for cinematic greatness in the hands of a capable DP.

So where does that leave us? Well, you get a camera with great frame rates (including slo-mo at 4K), high bit-rates, better battery life, less rolling shutter, longer record time, more dynamic range, better autofocus.... should I go on? In simple terms, this is a HUGE improvement on the already great A7s series. We highly recommend it.
