Continuing their recent trend of spectacular lens design, Sigma released a monster with the 20mm f/1.4 DG HSM. This 20mm prime is the world’s first ultra wide f/1.4 lens designed for full frame sensors. The lens is designed with 15 elements in 11 groups with 2 aspherical lenses. This design offers impressive distortion control and corner to corner sharpness, which is remarkable considering its ultra wide field of view.

When compared to its closest competitor from Nikon (the entry-level 20mm f/2.8), the Sigma 20mm f/1.4 handily outperforms it in sharpness and distortion control. And of course the Sigma stands alone as the fastest full frame 20mm to date. The fast aperture makes this lens perfect for capturing stars at night, low light event photography, or extending the shooting day as light fails.
