Details

Nikon updated the Z7 camera platform with some nice features to bring it up to speed with what other mirrorless cameras are capable of these days.

At 45.7 Megapixels, this camera is clearly aimed at those who care about details. Using a new BSI sensor design that deletes the low-pass optical filter increases the sharpness on offer. Nikon also redesigned the dual EXPEED 6 processors to allow a broader ISO range (64-25600 native) as well as an increase in burst rate to 10 fps continuous shooting.

On the video side of things, UHD 4K 60p video is now available, with 10-bit N-log or HLG on tap via external recording.

Those familiar with the original Z7 will immediately be familiar with this camera, as they share the same physical size & weight. That being said, one major improvement (at least in our eyes) is the addition of an SD card slot. Now you get one CFExpress Type B slot as well as one SD UHS-II slot.

5-axis stabilization makes hand-holding this camera a dream, and works in conjunction with the Vibration Reduction in lenses to keep shake to an absolute minimum. The autofocus has been updated with eye and face detection for humans and animals, in both photo and video modes.

Finally, the new USB Type-C port allows for continuous power from an external source (such as a larger battery) to give you extended shooting times.
