The Nikkor 85mm f/1.4G is a major update to the previous "D" version lens, and from everything we can see, seems to have made a stellar optic even better. The biggest change of course is the addition of AF-S. This means that the focusing motor is now inside the lens, making it faster and more accurate. In addition, this lens will allow autofocus functions on the entry-level Nikon bodies, something it's predecessor could not do. They've retained some of the best features (incredible edge-to-edge sharpness, internal focusing, and rounded aperture blades) and added still more such as the Nano Crystal Coat and Super Integrated Coating to reduce flare and control chromatic aberrations, creating true-to-life color and excellent contrast.
