When you need to do a livestream, this little piece of hardware will make life MUCH easier for you. Acting as an HDMI/USB translator (of sorts), you can connect a video camera with an HDMI output such as a DSLR, mirrorless, GoPro, or camcorder to your PC or Mac computer and broadcast live streams onto any platform of your choosing such as Twitch or YouTube. Choose between full HD 1080 at 60 fps, or 4K at 30 fps.

Alternatively, you can effectively use this to get around the recording limits of certain cameras, since the Cam Link 4K allows you to record directly to your computer's hard drive.

Okay, there are a few VERY important things to note about using this device, so please pay attention:

1) You MUST have a USB 3.x port. YOU CANNOT USE THIS WITH USB 2.x Hear me now and believe me later.

2) You will need a powerful computer. This is true for all live streaming, but we can't stress this point enough. Elgato says you need at least a 4th generation quad-core Intel i5 CPU (i5-4xxx), and we recommend a bare minimum of 8 GB of RAM.

3) If you're on PC, you'll need at least Windows 10 (64 bit). If you're more of a Mac person, just be sure you're on MacOS Sierra 10.12 or later.

4) Make sure you have a compatible camera that has "clean" HDMI out (meaning no settings/status overlay appears in the feed). Check this link for a camera compatibility chart.
