As of 8/21/2024, this battery is ONLY compatible with the new R5 Mark II body. Do NOT rent this for any other body. Our understanding is that Canon is going to make this backwards compatible with other bodies through a firmware update, but do no use it with any other body until they give the "all clear" and you check the firmware to ensure compatibility.

Okay, with that out of the way, we'll move on to specifications. Namely, Canon increased the voltage to 8.4 and the capacity to 2130 mAh. This extra power is necessary for some of the advanced features of the new EOS R family of bodies, starting with the R5 Mark II.

By the way, this battery is an official factory battery from Canon, not some cheap third-party copycat. So you can rest assured that renting it will give you long-lasting, dependable power.
