The 90D is Canon's latest generation of APS-C camera, and combines the "x0D" lineup with the 7D series to streamline their product lineup. The obvious stand-out feature on this camera is the 32.5 megapixel sensor, which has incredibly high resolution and an ISO range of 100-25600. Amazingly enough, you can still shoot burst photos at 10 fps! That's pretty incredible for a camera at this price point. On the video side, the 90D can shoot 4K up to 30 fps and full HD up to 120 fps. It can also send an 8-bit 4:2:2 signal out to an external recorder via HDMI.

Supporting this sensor is a two mode autofocus system. While using the optical viewfinder, you get phase detect autofocus via 45 cross-style high sensitivity points that are rated down to -3 EV. Fully 27 of the points are usable down to f/8, which will make life easier if you like to use teleconverters. You can choose groups of these points in zone mode or select them individually to suit your needs. In video or liveview mode, the camera uses a dual-pixel CMOS system to create a very natural camcorder-like autofocus look. This system is smooth, fast, and accurate to reducing focusing hunting. In addition, you can use the touchscreen to select elements within your scene that you want to focus on. You can even do rack-focus type moves by setting the AF speed to your needs.

Use the optical viewfinder for 100% coverage or utilize the tilt-and-swivel 3 inch screen to help you frame the shot from any angle. The body also has wireless and bluetooth capabilities for use with Canon's app on your mobile device. Canon decided to stick with the workhorse LP-E6N battery, which supplies enough power for up to an incredible 1300 shots per charge.

Overall, this camera is well suited to nearly any type of photo or video pursuit. The autofocus and burst rate are awesome for sports. The resolution is great for portraits and landscapes. The size makes it nice for travel. Rent it to give it a shot. We think there's a lot to love here.
