Details
The long awaited update to the 5D Mark III, the 5D Mark IV is more than worthy of the impeccable reputation Canon’s 5D series of cameras is known for. The updates found in the Mark IV are many. So many in fact, that instead of an update, the 5D Mark IV could be thought of as a complete overhaul of the 5D III. What makes it so different? Everything.
First off, the 5D IV has a brand new 30.4 megapixel sensor with a native ISO range from 100-32000, making shooting in low light at high resolution not just possible, but simple. Canon also improved autofocus to 61 points capable of motion tracking when shooting stills, or while using live view/video. This also comes into play when using the 3.2” high resolution touch screen. With the dual pixel AF, just touch the portion of the image on the rear lcd you would like to focus on, and the 5D IV makes it so. What’s more, the DIGIC 6+ Image Processor allows for up to 7 frames per second of continuous shooting… at 30 megapixels.
With that kind of speed and resolution, you need a place to store your files. Fortunately the 5D IV boasts both CF and SD card slots, giving you flexibility in how you’d like to store your stills or video. Speaking of video, the 5D IV is a video workhorse capable of shooting 4k at 30fps as well as 120fps for slow motion at HD 720p. Lastly- an industry first for professional DSLRs, the 5D IV’s Dual Pixel RAW technology allows users to slightly adjust focus and out of focus areas after the fact using Canon’s Digital Photo Professional 4.5 software. Combine all of those features with Built-In GPS and Wi-Fi with NFC, and you have a camera that can tackle any task with pleasure.
You owe it to yourself to rent this body and see what it can do for your photography and videography.
