An extraordinary long focal length for extraordinary images, the EF 500mm f/4L IS is a lot of lens. Ideal for sports or wildlife, the 500mm worth of compression and excellent optics make for fantastic image quality with little to no chromatic aberration. Definitely not for hand-holding, the 500mm enjoys life on a gimbal, locked to a tripod, or at least on a monopod; so make sure you’re stabilized on a solid tripod with a head that can handle the weight. Fortunately this lens also includes its own image stabilization.
