Wide angle lenses must be tough to make. But Canon has finally graced us with something that we think is well worth the wait. This is the widest angle lens that Canon has ever made for full-frame cameras, and it is beautiful. Any of you super wide-angle fans will immediately get a warm fuzzy feeling when you take off the lens cap and first lay your eyes on that front element. Who knew bulbous could be so beautiful? Another great thing about this lens is that it is an L-series design, which means that it has some extra goodness baked in from the factory. Namely improved construction and weather sealing. Canon also threw all of their engineering prowess into the lens elements, with no less than four aspheric elements, UD and super UD elements, and SWC/ASC coatings as icing on the proverbial cake. All of that tech combines to reduce flare, ghosting, chromatic aberration, and keep distortion to an absolute minimum. Result? Amazing optical performance to make your visual art shine. Whether you're shooting interiors, landscapes, or just looking for unique perspective on your next shoot, this lens will give you the widest angle of view of any non-fisheye lens available from Canon.
Note: The front element is EXTREMELY exposed on this lens and very easy to scratch/nick. Please treat it like it's your own and leave the front lens cap on at all times until you're ready to shoot. It'll save everyone a lot of heartache (and money).
