Details

This legendary microphone can be found in nearly every major recording studio in the world, and for good reason: You'd be hard pressed to find another mic with this level of performance that is as versatile as the C414. Due to its flat frequency response and multiple pick up patterns, it is outstanding on everything from vocals to piano to drums to violas to guitars (both electric and acoustic). Not only is it excellent in a studio setting, but it works amazingly well for live performances and broadcast use too.

At the heart of this mic lies a gold-sputtered 1" large-diaphragm capsule with a dynamic range of 134 dB and maximum SPL of 158 dB. It also boasts a crazy low self noise of 6 dBA! The 9 switchable pick up patterns give you an incredible variety of options: omni, wide cardioid, cardioid, hypercardioid, figure-8, or the four intermediate polar patterns. There are plenty of ways to get the most natural sound from any instrument, and it's so fast to switch between them, you won't have to worry about extra downtime when tracking different performers. Just slide the switch, place the mic, and rock n roll (or jazz, or funk, or anything, really).

For vocal use, there is a hany high-pass filter (40, 80, or 160 Hz) that you can engage via a switch to reduce boomy sounds such as rumble, handling noise, and proximity effect. It aso has a switchable pad (-6, -12, -18 dB) for recording really loud sources.

Like all condenser microphones, this does require 48V phantom power, so please make sure you're plugging it into a preamp, mixer, interface, or recorder which can provide that.
