The EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM is a high performance, water-resistant, and ultra wide-angle Canon L-series lens. It has been specifically designed for improved edge-to-edge image quality that will meet the strict requirements of professional and high-end amateur photographers. It features 3 high-precision aspherical lens elements, each of a different type: ground, replica and GMo for even better image quality than the original EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM. The circular aperture produces a beautiful and natural background blur when shooting at wider apertures. Other features include internal focusing, a ring type USM (Ultra Sonic Monitor), and new AF algorithms for fast and quiet autofocusing.

Excellent lens, July, 3 2010

Love this lens. I have a broken 17-35mm f/2.8 and this lens is so much sharper I almost hate to fix my 17-35. I have to get me one of these...
Nice Glass, July, 10 2009
by C. Patrick Douglas
Only reason I gave it a 4 star instead of 5 is no IS.
Otherwise it's an awesome lens!

Rent it!

The rental that didn't want to go home..., March, 3 2009
by Matt Antonino
Of all the lenses we have ever rented, this will go down as the one that almost didn’t go back. ;) The 16-35 2.8 L is an amazing piece of glass, which most everyone knows. For us, it rarely came off one of our cameras – we were shooting with it a LOT when we had it. The best thing about it was the overall crispness on edges and little vignetting which is atypical for this sort of width.

This lens was very robust in build quality as well. We took it on a 3 week photo tour shooting 8-10 hrs everyday and it performed amazingly well! I love it and want one. I'm afraid to re-rent this because it was hard to part with the FIRST time!
